2 - Dr. Ghaith Hani Alqudah

Earned his Ph.D. in Islamic Jurisprudence and its Foundations from Al al-Bayt University in Jordan. His doctoral dissertation, titled Aḥkām Ahl al-Dhimma, focuses on the legal rulings and rights of non-Muslims living under Islamic governance. This seminal work, originally written by the renowned Muslim scholar Ibn Qayyim al-Jawzīyah in 1330 (12th century), provides a comprehensive study of the dhimmī communities, examining the protections, obligations, and status afforded to non-Muslims under Islamic law. Dr. Alqudah’s dissertation offers a contemporary analysis of these rulings, emphasizing their relevance in modern discussions of interfaith relations and coexistence. His scholarly interests also extend to Muslim-Christian dialogue and the textual analysis of religious scriptures.

Dr. Alqudah holds a Master’s degree focused on the challenges faced by Jordanian Christians, particularly concerning the application of Islamic law within Jordanian personal status laws. His research emphasizes a holistic understanding of Islamic jurisprudence, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical constructs and their practical application by scholars. His work offers practical solutions to foster harmonious coexistence between Muslims and Christians, with a specific focus on the jurisprudential aspects of their interactions.

Through a multidisciplinary lens, Dr. Alqudah is a recognized expert in Islamic jurisprudence, interfaith studies, and political Islam. His research challenges prevailing stereotypes and encourages dialogue, promoting peaceful interactions among individuals of different faiths. His notable contributions include co-authoring two books, The Prospects of Political Islam in a Troubled Region and Post-Islamism: A New Phase or Ideological Delusions, both published by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Amman. He has also published scholarly articles addressing jurisprudential issues within Islam.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Alqudah is committed to advancing the fields of Islamic law, Islamic ethics, and interfaith dialogue, contributing both to academic scholarship and offering practical insights for policymakers, religious leaders, and the academic community.

3 - Mahmood Sanglay.

Mahmood Sanglay is a media professional with 24 years of experience in the media industry. His strengths include professional writing across diverse genres and platforms, and unlocking the synergies between media and other enterprises.

In 2019 he launched a travel company as a sustainability initiative for independent journalism. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic the vision of the travel company's role to drive revenue to the media company was short-lived.

However he subsequently identified different opportunities for innovative integration of media content with other markets. After over a decade of writing about the global Halaal market (valued at over US$2,3 trillion) he identified the Halaal travel niche (US$274 billion) as one that lends itself to convergence with media which offers leverage to sustain the publication.

Since 1996 Sanglay played a leading role as advocate for media transformation in South Africa, involving stakeholder engagement, lobbying and negotiation. These include engagements with government, parliament, conglomerate media and industry bodies like the Press Council of SA and the Audit Bureau of Circulations and the government's Media Diversity and Development Agency.

In addition his writing as media professional covers the private and public sector. Some his work in this respect includes national as well as international projects in the USA, Africa, Middle East, Indonesia and Iran.

His expertise in travel writing and his ability to grasp the opportunities in resources like The State of the Global Islamic Economy Report places him at the cusp of pioneering developments where media and other business opportunities converge.

He is currently CEO at Muslim Views, the leading niche market publication with a publishing history dating back to 1960.
